More Bad News For Fable 2

As if not shipping with online co-op wasn't enough, Lionhead are really laying down the shit for us with Fable 2.

It looks like Peter Molyneux's ability to promise features for his games that never arrive extends in the world of retail box sets as well. (We kid because we care)

Due to a "supply chain issue" the Fable II Limited Collector's Edition will no longer include the premium box, five printed fate cards and Hobbe figure, Lionhead Studios today. To make up for the missing feature set, the collector's edition will now run for about $70, instead of $80.

The Collector's Edition is expected to hit on October 21 in North America and Asia and October 24 for Europe and will include:

* Fable II game disc
* Bonus DVD with new ‘Making-of’ Feature
* Bonus in-game content (requires Xbox LIVE®)
o ‘The Hall of the Dead’ Dungeon
o ‘The Wreckager’ Legendary Cutlass Weapon
o Spartan armor and energy sword

I'm truely pissed off. I loved the Collectors Edition content and this is just... shit.
So tempted to cancel my preorder...
We see history repeating itself with Molyneux's biting off more than he can chew, so to speak. Thoughts?

I just saw this last night and I'm pretty annoyed about it. Fable 2 is the first game that I decided to buy the collector's edition of. I was really looking forward to the special case and figurine but I'm actually tempted to cancel my preorder and get Fallout 3 instead (which I was going to have wait 'til Christmas for due to funds).

It's hardly the end of the world, but it's still pretty annoying...

I was always planning on getting standard edition, I hate the boxes that special editions always come in.

I just want the Spartan armour and Energy Sword. - Fingers crossed that will become DLC after release.

You're assuming it's being rushed out simply because Microsoft and Lionhead screwed up the LE?

It's been ready since late July, FYI. They've simply spent the extra time bug-crunching while trying to optimize online co-op so it's actually playable online and not a giant clusterfuck, like, say, Castle Crashers was for many people (hence why it's they're going to just patch it in, like Rare did with Kameo).

A number of the non-believers here are going to be eating a lot of crow once it's released, I suspect...

No, I'm assuming it's being rushed out because two issues have arised in the past couple of weeks that should have been fixed if the game has been ready since July, FYI.

See the bolded part. You honestly wouldn't have minded borked online co-op out-the-box? Really?

I think it's pretty admirable that Lionhead decided to remove it this late on so they can improve the netcode and patch it in in a playable state for everyone, rather than, like, 20% of people who might be lucky and connect to one another.

I rather that, than the whole CC debacle, where The Behemoth were like: "K, our game's a bit broken, we'll fix it when we finish wanking into cash". Over one month and still waiting... and now no-one's even playing it. GG. (Y)

I think it's ridiculously people are complaining so much about the Limited Edition version, you buy a game for the game, not for good the stuff you get with it.

Just buy standard edition or limited and enjoy it.

Limited Editions are LIMITED because you get good stuff with them. They couldn't exactly call it a Limited Edition if it was just the same as the Standard.

If so then I may just have to get the special edition. Mainly so all the American nub cakes can suck up to me Razz

Also more dungeons are always nice.

It seens that the Collectors Edition has been downed again.

They have cut the Game Soundtrack and Developer Diary from the Bonus DVD.

All you get now is:

Bonus DVD with new 'Making-of' Feature.
Bonus in-game content (requires Xbox LIVE) including:
. The Hall of the Dead Dungeon
. The Wreckager Legendary Cutlass Weapon
. Spartan armor and energy sword
